SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The fifth annual Pushups for Charity event was held in San Diego Saturday. It was part of a national campaign that raises money for veteran assistance.

At the event hosted by Harley Davidson San Diego -- participants were challenged to do as many pushups as they could in 90 seconds.

The goal of the event is to raise $1 million nationwide for the boot campaign which helps provide for veterans just getting out of the service.

"It's so encouraging that no matter what their politics, everybody's here for the military - for those who are serving and hopefully as much for those who are veterans," said New York Myke, owner of Harley Davidson San Diego.

In past years, Pushups for Charity has raised more than $600,000 for the boot campaign.
