A pair of married veteran police officers were facing a slew of drug-related charges Friday in yet another scandal to hit the San Diego Police Department this year.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - We're hearing from one of two veteran SDPD police officers arrested on drug charges last week.

Jennifer Charpentier and her husband Bryce are accused of possessing and selling illegal substances, but Jennifer says she's done nothing wrong.

Jennifer was in family court Monday morning. It was a previously scheduled hearing to discuss custody of her two sons she shares with her ex-husband. Following her arrest last week, the judge chose to give her supervised visitation until the drug case proceeds.

Jennifer and her husband Bryce, both San Diego police officers, were arrested on Thursday.

Bryce, a six-year veteran of the San Diego Police Department, was booked on charges of possession and sales of a controlled substance, along with charges of conspiracy and being under the influence while in possession of a loaded firearm.

Jennifer an 18-year veteran of the police department, was booked on charges of conspiracy and possession and sales of a controlled substance.

Both arrests were made without incident by the sheriff's department.

Monday morning outside court, Jennifer said she and her husband are both innocent.

"Both my husband and I...we both believe that this has been misguided. We don't know what the source is but we do believe that it stems from information that was false," she said. It's been a a very traumatic experience. It's been very eye opening and enlightening. Both my husband and I are trying to get something positive out of it."

Jennifer's ex did make claims in their divorce papers that she had been abusing prescription drugs. Records show in March of this year, he told the court Jennifer used to abuse prescription drugs such as codeine cough syrup, accusations she denied to CBS News 8.

"I did not, and no custody or anything has ever been granted on that," she said.

In court Monday, a judge ruled that as a result of her arrest, Jennifer will lose custody for the time being of her two boys, and will be allowed supervised visitation 32 hours a week.

"I would like to think that in family court, the welfare of the children is what's first, and as much as it hurts to not have the kids here as much as I did, I understand that we just need to wait for the outcome of the case," Jennifer told CBS News 8.
