DEL MAR (CBS 8) - Chargers players showed their support for the San Diego Food Bank Friday at the San Diego County Fair.

Players came out to participate in a variety of food bank-sponsored children's activities, including a sock puppet competition and a football toss.

Linebacker Donald Butler told CBS News 8 what giving back means to him.

"Feeding families in need or people in need, that's always something dear to my heart. So any extra time I can come out here and spend with the fans and help a good cause, I'm all for it," Butler said.

The food bank asked families who attended the event to bring non-perishable food items or donate money. For every dollar donated, the food bank can provide five meals to hungry San Diegans.
