Power restored to Mission Bay area residents

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Crews worked Monday to restore power to nearly 850 homes and businesses in Pacific Beach and around Mission Bay.

San Diego Gas & Electric officials said 570 of the utility's customers remained without electricity after the first outage struck at about 11:45 p.m. Sunday. Another 271 lost power at 4:46 a.m. Monday, according to the utility.

An underground electrical box in the 3700 block of Mission Boulevard near Santa Clara place blew out around midnight, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Power was fully restored to residents in the area around noon. A combination of factors caused the problem in the electrical system, according to SDG&E.
