Search for Ramona man will be suspended after Saturday

Posted: Updated:

RAMONA (CBS 8) - The sheriff's department says the main search for a missing at-risk Ramona man will be suspended after Saturday.

There is still no sign of 67-year-old Carl Salayer despite a fifth day of searching Saturday. He walked away from his home on Handlebar Road sometime early Tuesday.

Salayer suffers from dementia and has other serious health issues.

"Well, we talked to our subject's family this morning who came out and thank everybody for being here, as you might imagine, that's emotional for us and emotional for them and I think it makes us want to work even harder," said Chris Vangordor.

About 200 volunteers have taken part in the search.
