Woman killed in hit and run in Ocean Beach

OCEAN BEACH (CNS) - A woman's body was found in the roadside landscaping near a skateboard park on the side of Nimitz Boulevard early Saturday in Ocean Beach after an apparent hit- and-run crash.

The victim, a 27-year-old white female, was found with a skateboard on the side of Nimitz early this morning after being hit by an unknown vehicle, Officer Frank Cali said. It is unknown if she was riding or carrying the skateboard at the time of the crash.

A driver passing by after sunrise spotted the woman's body and called police at 6:07 a.m., Cali said. Officers responded to the site and the woman was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene, Cali said.

The fatality was on a section of Nimitz where vehicles at near-freeway speeds are not uncommon, near the on-ramp to Interstate 8. A skateboard park is nearby at Robb Field.
