Canadian company, Free & Easy Traveler, gives fortunate Liverpool girl a 40-day trip to Asia with social media campaign. Free & Easy has established an international audience through strong social media presence.
Edmonton, Alberta (PRWEB) June 25, 2014
Free & Easy Traveler, a Canadian adventure travel company, just concluded a social media campaign that was centred around giving away a 40-day trip through Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia. Commonly referred to as the LTC, the 40-day trip is one of Free & Easy's most popular and adventurous trips and so it was no surprise that the draw attracted a lot of attention from young travellers around the world. And indeed it was someone from outside Free & Easy's home base of Canada who won the grand prize: Emily Day of Liverpool, England was the fortunate winner of the once in a lifetime adventure.
"As we continue to grow, it's cool to see our reach expanding outside Canada," says Free & Easy's Operating Partner, Rob Campbell, "we used to focus on just being known across Canada and then with this campaign we saw how far we've come when we were getting so many entries in from people all around the world."
The contest ran for three weeks and when it ended, there were over 50,000 entries in the draw. Free & Easy saw a growth on their Facebook page of almost 6,000 fans in the 3 weeks, making their weekly growth close to 2,000. Thanks to Facebook's new Page Comparison feature, this showed Free & Easy was growing faster than any other group travel company over that period of time.
"These days you definitely have to work hard and be creative to see substantial social media growth, but when we look across the board and we're increasing faster than every other company it's certainly encouraging," says Campbell.
When asked what the secret to making this campaign a successful one was: "It's the LTC! 40-days, amazing beaches, amazing culture, it's a trip we call The Ultimate Journey for a reason. So I guess the secret in this instance was in creating an awesome product that people want to win."
