More shelter dogs transferred from L.A. to San Diego

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – The San Diego Humane Society has 24 new dogs up for adoption.

They were transferred from overcrowded shelters in Los Angeles. The dogs arrived Wednesday as part of the ASPCA's transport program. There are a wide variety of breeds, including Maltese and dachshunds, which aren't normally seen at San Diego shelters.

After the animals arrived, they were processed right away and seen by a vet.

"As soon as they're cleared medically, we take their picture and get them onto the adoption floor so that they don't have to sit here and go through process as soon as possible," Kelli Schry of the San Diego Humane Society said.

This is the second group of Los Angeles shelter dogs to arrive in San Diego this month.
