SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A teenager is safe this morning after missing since Tuesday.
According to his mother, Sean Dowlearn left his house sometime after 10 p.m. Tuesday and took a child's survival kit with him.
With the help of a search dog, detectives found the 13-year-old off of El Camino Real in Oceanside.
"I'm so thankful for everybody that put it out there that I’ve seen everywhere and I just can’t wait to have him home," said the teen's mom.
But the missing teen wasn't able to head straight home to his mother, he and his 14-year-old brother have been taken into protective custody.
Investigators say they don't believe he was abducted and are now looking into why he went missing.
