Treatment option for NFL players with concussions

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A local former athlete wants to help current and former members of the NFL who suffered concussions.

The Ricky Williams Foundation is teaming up with the Upledger Institute Clinic for a gentle hands-on treatment program called craniosacral therapy.

Williams underwent this treatment and told CBS News 8 why he advocates it.

"With all the talk about it, let's talk about prevention and what we can do and early detection signs. But no one is talking about treatment," Williams said. "And I think I'm in a very interesting position because I've been a player but I've also studied this - and so I know from my own experience that it works and it can really help a lot of players."

The pilot program starts in Palm Beach Gardens next month.
