SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – San Diego Police Department Chief Shelley Zimmerman says an audit of her department is progressing on schedule.

"They were out here a couple of weeks ago. They are looking at our recruiting and our supervision, our training practices," Zimmerman said.

The chief says she welcomes any review that may help improve the department.

The independent audit was ordered by the Department of Justice following allegations of misconduct by several officers.

The report is expected in the next few months, and will be made public.
