2 drivers arrested after crashing into home & truck

Posted: Updated:

ESCONDIDO (CNS) - A possible street race in Escondido ended with one driver crashing into a home and the other hitting a parked truck in its driveway and both being arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, police said.

The 21-year-old driver of a white Dodge Charger and the 26-year-old driver of a black GMC pickup truck had been headed west on Mission Avenue around 12:45 a.m., when the pickup's driver cut in front of the other vehicle and both crashed, according to Escondido police Sgt. Kevin Toth.

The Charger ended up plowing into the front of a home at 743 Pittman St., Toth said. The home's residents had been inside sleeping, but none of them were injured in the crash, he said.

The pickup truck struck another truck that was parked in the home's driveway, Toth said.

The Charger's driver sustained minor injuries, according to the sergeant. Both drivers were arrested, Toth said.
