SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County was at its highest amount for Independence Day since 2008 Friday, $4.152.
The average price rose one-tenth of a cent Friday, its 10th increase in 12 days. It is is 2.4 cents more than one week ago, 2.7 cents higher than one month ago and 12.8 cents greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
"Wholesale gasoline prices have backed down after a two-week rise, but are still well above levels that cause our price averages to stay above $4," said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
The average price has been above $4 since March 16.
