Lt. Dan Band performs after Padres game

Posted: Updated:
SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Padres fans got a special treat after Sunday's game against the Giants.

Actor Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band performed after the game this afternoon.

Sinise of course played "Lt. Dan" in the 1994 Oscar winning movie Forrest Gump.

For the past 10 years, he's toured with his band to raise money to build homes for wounded veterans.

We asked him what keeps him going.

“Liberties and freedoms that were declared back on July Fourth 1776 -- and there’s a lot of people that have sacrificed for that Bill of Rights and that Constitution and we want to make sure we take care of them when they come home,” Sinise said.

Sunday's concert raised funds for two local wounded vets whose new homes are being built right here in California.
