Jailed Marine in Mexico talks about his arrest

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A Marine reservist held in a Mexican jail says he's hopeful he'll be released after a court appearance in Tijuana on Wednesday.

Andrew Tahmooressi spoke with CNN by phone Sunday.

"I'm not a guilty man and you can probably hear it from my voice and the sincerity in my voice, and I'm not a guilty man, I'm innocent," he said.

He's been in jail since April on weapons charges after guns were found in his truck by Mexican authorities.

Sunday, Tahmooressi says he stressed that he crossed the border by mistake but they didn't want to hear it.

"I made it very obvious that it was a mistake for me to be here. They even told me they were going to escort me back to America, but once the military people got involved, they were like, oh look what we found... We found these guns," he said.

Tahmooressi says his treatment in jail got better when the media got involved.
