Medically fragile sisters in need of a forever home

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - In just three days, one of the little girls you're about to meet will be celebrating her third birthday. And there would be no sweeter gift than finding a forever family.

These two sisters are incredibly resilient and strong, despite being medically fragile.

Little Tyeesha, who's almost three-years-old, prefers to use sign language to communicate right now, but she's starting to sound out words and is very engaging.

Her older sister Tyyonna was also a late talker, but she has no problem communicating now. Tyyonna is five-years-old and just finished transitional kindergarten. She also recently received an outstanding achievement award for her accomplishments at school.

“She just tries the hardest in the classroom. She has to try a little harder than the other kids to keep up with them,” explained protective services worker, Jessica Carter. “She was in a wheelchair and then a walker and now it's just her leg braces, so she's just so proud of herself.”

Tyyonna and Tyeesha should both be proud. Social workers say the two sisters have brittle bone disease and wear leg braces for protection.

“Their bones do break easily, however they're going to infusion treatments and they're getting stronger and stronger every day,” continued Carter. “Now that they have the braces, they're more confident and they don't need their walkers anymore. They know exactly how to walk around, what to do, but they get in and out of the car, play like normal kids, love to go on slides, play in the sand and the beach.”

The girls are also really good listeners.

“They're really happy girls, they are just adorable, they love pretty much everything,” Carter said.

Tyyonna even loves tomatoes. They're her favorite food. When asked what her sister likes to eat, she responded:

“She eats everything actually.”

What Tyyonna and Tyeesha need now, is a forever family to nurture them and give them the support and the love they deserve to continue to thrive.
