Victim in Fourth of July murder identified

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities Tuesday released the name of a homicide victim whose body was found at his rural home near Bonsall on the Fourth of July.

Deputies responding to a report of a possibly injured man in the 3600 block of Gopher Canyon Road shortly after 3:30 p.m. Friday found Robert Evasick, 54, mortally wounded on the ground outside his house, according to sheriff's officials. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives have been looking for another man who lived on the property, 37-year-old Alexander Michael Wyman, for questioning regarding Evasick's death, Lt. Glenn Giannantonio said.

Authorities have declined to disclose the cause of Evasick's death, other than to say he died from "traumatic injuries" inflicted by another person.

Wyman is a 5-foot-11-inch, 200-pound white man with blond hair and blue eyes. His was last seen wearing dark-colored shorts and a white Padres-logo T-shirt.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or contact the agency online at sdcrimestoppers.com. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
