Rally downtown to support migrant families

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Thursday’s plan to send another plane of families who have crossed the border illegally to San Diego has been cancelled and no new plan has been announced.

Meantime, people supporting those families arriving in the U.S. gathered for a vigil Downtown.

Many held signs supporting the children. During the rally, a seven-year-old girl, gripping a teddy bear, was released with her mother. They arrived here on a recent flight after illegally crossing into Texas from Mexico.

"She is from El Salvador. If they finally are here, they survived." Said Maribol Solach from Dreamers’ Moms.

So far three large groups have been brought to San Diego. They're being sent to live with relatives in the U.S. while they wait for immigration hearings.
