Sharp Rees-Stealy CEO dresses as a carrot

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Sharp Rees-Stealy medical centers kicked off its employee health screening program Thursday.

CEO Stacey Hroundas and other leaders are encouraging employees to get started on a path to healthy living by getting their free health screenings. To drive the message home, they made the rounds at the Genesee medical center wearing fruit and vegetable costumes.

"We want to get our employees excited about getting their health screened and doing the right thing for themselves, keep themselves healthy," Hroundas said.

Health screenings will be provided for all Sharp healthcare employees through the summer.

The screenings measure cholesterol, blood sugar, body mass index, blood pressure and tobacco use.
