Suspect in custody after apparent kidnapping

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man has been booked for a range of charges including kidnapping after abducting the mother of his son in Mission Valley, police said Saturday.

The abduction occurred when the 22-year-old suspect drove his son to see the boy's mother at the Fashion Valley Mall on the 7000 block of Friars Road at 8:55 p.m. Friday, San Diego Police officer David Stafford said.

As the boy's mother climbed into the back seat of the car to see her son, the suspect drove away, despite her requests to stop.

Stafford said witnesses reported seeing the victim trying to leave the car, and later, reported screaming from the suspect's residence on the 200 block of C. Street in Chula Vista, where the victim told police the suspect kidnapped her.

The suspect, whose name was not released, was arrested and booked for kidnapping, battery and violation of a court order, Stafford said.
