Search for suspect in Comerica Bank robbery

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego police and the FBI sought the public's help Tuesday to identify the woman who robbed a Midway District bank branch using a note that stated she was armed with a bomb.

The suspect walked into the Comerica Bank at 3361 Rosecrans St., Ste. 9A, shortly before 3 p.m. Monday, and handed a teller a folded piece of paper that turned out to be a demand note that asked for a specific amount and claimed she had a bomb, according to FBI Special Agent Darrell Foxworth.

The suspect then fled with the money, Foxworth said. No weapon was seen and no one was injured.

Witnesses described the robber as Hispanic or Middle Eastern, between 20 and 30, 5 feet 2 to 5 feet 4, and 120 to 140 pounds with a medium build and a slender nose. She was wearing a long multicolored scarf covering her head and neck, sunglasses with large, round, dark lenses, a dark long sleeved sweater and a long black skirt.

Anyone with information on the robbery was asked to call the FBI at (858) 320-1800 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
