CHULA VISTA (CNS) - Chula Vista police were working Tuesday to identify a man of about 50 who was struck and seriously injured by a car while crossing a street.

The pedestrian may have been illegally darting across the 600 block of H Street near Broadway shortly after 11 p.m. Monday when he was struck by the vehicle, according to a Chula Vista police statement. The driver stopped following the crash and was not cited, police said.

The crash left the pedestrian seriously injured and unresponsive, according to the statement. He was taken to UCSD Medical Center to be treated.

Police said the injured man is black, about 50 and may frequent the area where the crash took place. Anyone with information on his identity was asked to call Chula Vista police at (619) 691-5151.
