SAN DIEGO (AP) — A 12-year-old Southern California boy will be the youngest fulltime student in the history of Mira Costa College when he enrolls this fall.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports Saturday that Kyle Litzenberg, of Oceanside, has been homeschooled his whole life.
At age 6, he wrote a song. He's written a book and several plays and recently took the California High School Proficiency Examination to earn the equivalent of a diploma.
Kyle says he's not worried about going to college, but knows leaving his homeschooling behind will be a challenge.
The fall semester will begin two days after his 13th birthday.
The community college in Oceanside enrolls 14,500 students taking classes for credit.
