SAN MARCOS (CNS) - The 30-year-old motorcyclist killed in a suspected drunken driving crash in San Marcos over the weekend, in which another driver was jailed, was publicly identified Monday.

Ivan Vicente Angeles of San Marcos was riding his motorcycle south on Las Flores Drive about 1:20 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by a Toyota 4Runner heading west on South Santa Fe Avenue, according to the county Medical Examiner's Office and the sheriff's department.

Angeles was ejected from the motorcycle and struck the curb, according to sheriff's Deputy Tammy Bennetts. His motorcycle came to a rest on the roadside. Angeles died at the scene, authorities said.

The driver of the Toyota 4Runner drove off following the crash, but deputies caught up to him about a quarter of a mile away, at the intersection of South Santa Fe Avenue and Bosstick Boulevard, Bennetts said.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, felony hit and run and drunken driving, Bennetts said. His name was not immediately released.
