People still flying to Hawaii despite storm warning

Despite the tropical storm bearing down in Hawaii and the hurricane right behind it -- people are still going to the islands.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Despite the tropical storm bearing down in Hawaii and the hurricane right behind it, people are still going to the islands.

At this time, air travel hasn't been disrupted too much by the storm. At Lindbergh Field Friday, CBS News 8 spoke with a family who was getting ready for vacation.

"We just all agreed at a family meeting and decided that we were going to be flexible and retain a sense of humor because our plans might have to change. We look at it as an adventure and we look forward to our time in Hawaii,” said Rebecca Tam who is traveling to Kauai.

The last time Hawaii was hit with a hurricane or tropical storm was in 1992, when hurricane Iniki killed six people and destroyed more than 1,400 homes in Kauai.
