Man in critical condition after hit-and-run

CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A man was in critical condition Saturday in Chula Vista when he was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene of the crash, a police officer said.

Chula Vista police received several 911 calls about 1:55 a.m. Saturday reporting a pedestrian was hit in the 600 block of H Street, Officer Brian Carter said.

Officers there found an injured man struck by a single vehicle that had been traveling west on H Street, which then fled, Carter said. The victim was taken to UCSD Medical Center in critical condition, and was expected to survive.

There were no apparent witnesses and police didn't have details on the make or type of vehicle that hit the man, but Carter said the vehicle should have a broken windshield and front body damage.

Police asked anyone with information about the hit-and-run was asked to call the Chula Vista Police Department's Traffic Division at (619) 691-5151.
