Man injured, cat killed in Midway office fire

A fire at a limousine-services agency in the Midway area Thursday left a man injured and killed a cat, authorities reported.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A fire at a limousine-services agency in the Midway area Thursday left a man injured and killed a cat, authorities reported.

The blaze erupted for unknown reasons shortly before 3:30 p.m. in a second-floor office space at the business in the 3000 block of Rosecrans Place, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

A worker managed to escape out an upstairs window. An ambulance crew took him to UCSD Medical Center for treatment of smoke inhalation, SDFRD spokesman Lee Swanson said.

Firefighters got the flames under control within about 20 minutes. They found the dead feline inside the office area.

None of the vehicles used by the business were damaged, Swanson said.
