SDSU men's basketball takes Ice Bucket Challenge

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The San Diego State University men's basketball team completed the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Thursday.

Head coach Steve Fisher and the coaching staff were first to accept the challenge, allowing players to pour buckets full of ice water on their heads. The players were then drenched by cheerleaders and members of "The Show."

Thursday's participation in the challenge was especially personal because assistant coach Mark Fisher, the son of head coach Steve Fisher, was diagnosed with ALS more than three years ago.

"I think that this has had such an impact nationally on one, awareness, two, fundraising that it's beyond anyone's wildest dreams," Steve Fisher said.

The ALS Association announced on Wednesday it's received $94.3 million in donations compared to $2.7 million during the same time period last year.
