SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man wearing a black bandana over his face robbed both a bank and credit union within minutes at the same shopping center in Mira Mesa Saturday, an officer said.

Police received a call at 12:26 p.m. Saturday that a man had robbed the North Island Federal Credit Union branch at 9420 Mira Mesa Blvd., Officer Frank Cali said.

At 12:27 p.m. a robbery was reported at the U.S. Bank branch at 9400 Mira Mesa Blvd., Cali said. Witnesses saw the suspected robber leave the bank and run westbound on Mira Mesa Boulevard.

At both robberies the suspect made verbal demands from tellers and was given undisclosed amounts of money, Cali said.

The suspect in both robberies was described as a Hispanic man in his early 30s, about 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 8, and between 170 and 180 pounds.

The suspect wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, a black bandana over his face, a black hat with a white logo and red trim, white gloves and faded jeans. He was carrying a black bag.
