Another victim of Publisher's Clearing House scam

Posted: Updated:
SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A Scripps Ranch woman is coming forward with a warning about a fake Publisher's Clearing House scam.

We first told you about a similar online scam earlier this week.

Now Betty Meola, 86, says she was tricked into buying $100 worth of merchandise, believing she would be rewarded with $7,000 a week for life.

She says the scammers even called her and claimed to have booked a hotel room to present her with the prize.

"They play the role that you're the winner and they know damn well that you're not," Meola said.

Meola hopes to see a class action lawsuit to reimburse victims.

Publisher's Clearing House has warned people of such scams, and says they never contact potential winners beforehand.
