Contractor pleads guilty to home burglaries

Posted: Updated:

VISTA (CNS) - A contractor who committed a string of home burglaries during remodeling jobs throughout San Diego County pleaded guilty Tuesday to a felony count of residential burglary.

Carlos Barajas, 31, of Ramona will be sentenced to a year in jail on Oct. 7, said Deputy District Attorney Ryan Saunders.

Sheriff's deputies started investigating Barajas and his company, RB Remodeling, in March, after a Vista woman who hired him reported that her checks were being fraudulently cashed and she was missing a ring.

Sheriff's Sgt. Tom Ness said two other victims were identified and the targets seemed to be elderly residents.

The burglaries occurred between early 2012 and early this year.
