SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities released surveillance photos Wednesday of a man suspected of sexually assaulting a San Diego State University student last weekend at her apartment.

The assault occurred about 1:40 a.m. Saturday at a residential complex at Hardy Avenue and 55th Street, SDSU police Detective Cruz said.

The victim did not know the man, who approached her as she was walking home, Cruz said. He followed her into her bedroom and assaulted her, fleeing when her roommate arrived.

The assailant was described as a roughly 5-foot-9-inch Latino or tanned white man in his early 20s, with an average build, brown eyes and short dark-brown hair. He was wearing a baggy gray shirt with multicolored sleeves.

Anyone with information about the assault is urged to call SDSU Police at (619) 594-1991, Detective Cruz at (619) 594-1987, Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (619) 235-8477 or by emailing policemail.sdsu.edu.
