SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Heads up! Allied Gardens is about to have its clock cleaned. Time, which has stood at still at the triangle corner of Waring Road and Zion Avenue for the past six years is finally marching on.

"It's stuck at four different times, because the old clock had four different sides. So as you drive by, depending on what side you look at, you know if you're early or not, or whether or not you are late for work," Kathy Wiskur of Grantville Kiwanis said.

Last fall, the Kiwanis Club of Grantville-Allied Gardens decided to try and fix iconic timepiece. But alas, time waits for no one.

"So that's when we decided that maybe we should just go ahead and purchase a new clock for the neighborhood," Kathy said.

All and all, Kiwanis decided to offer folks in the 'hood, a chance to be a brick in the wall.

"People can get a brick, put their name on it, put the date that they moved into Allied Gardens," Kathy said. "The small bricks are $100. The big bricks are $150."

The remnants of the old clock were removed last weekend. The new clock will be dedicated, during a special ceremony, on October 18.

"Through the generosity of our wonderful neighborhood and the sale of these bricks, we've already paid for it," Kathy said.

Bricks will continue to be sold through the end of the year.

"Now everything else is going to be able to go back in the community," Kathy said.

"And for once, Allied Gardens will be on time.
