SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — State Sen. Ben Hueso is expected to enter a plea or contest the drunken driving charges against him during a court date scheduled after the November election.

He was arraigned Thursday in Sacramento County Superior Court on two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol after a night that included drinking at the state Capitol.

Hueso did not appear and his attorney, Margaret Ann Virga, declined comment. The case was continued until Nov. 6, two days after voters decide whether to re-elect the San Diego Democrat.

He was arrested last month during the final days of the legislative session. He was charged with driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher.
