Loved ones remember victims of violence

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Loved ones gather to remember those lost to violence.

The annual River of Remembrance has held Saturday in Poway. The event brings together friends and families of victims of violence to share stories, and find hope and healing.

The event is organized in part by the family of Cara Knott, who was killed at the scene of Saturday's memorial by a CHP officer 26 years ago.

Knott's cousin says the growing memorial has become a special place for families.

"This whole group supports each other which makes it much easier when you dealing with grief," James Knott said.

Those who attended the ceremony painted the names of their loved ones on to rocks and placed them together creating a river formation. A clothesline of remembrance was also created by attendees.
