Businesses hoping to cash in on Chargers season

Posted: Updated:

NATIONAL CITY (CBS 8) - The San Diego Chargers are two and one on the season after going to the East Coast and beating the Buffalo Bills 22-10 Sunday.

While National City fans often take to the streets after a big game, Sunday businesses there tried to take advantage of it.

This season, National City businesses along Highland Avenue are offering incentives to fans on game days. They're calling it a block party. Businesses such as McGonagle's Philly Cheese, Hot Papas and Wingstop are offering special discounts and door prizes.

"It's us and two other restaurants that are trying to bring awareness that people can come the game, have some good beer and not have to stand outside the whole time,” said restaurant owner, Brian McGongagle.

So far, so good and if the Chargers keep winning, those business owners should expect even bigger crowds.
