Doctors urge voters to keep Tri-City board

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A group of physicians demonstrated outside of Tri-City Medical Center Wednesday, asking voters to keep the hospital's current board of directors.

Eleven people are running for five open board of director seats in the November election. Supporters of the five incumbents say they want to maintain the stability the board has achieved over the past year.

"If we get another disruptive board member, then we're not going to make the financial progress that's necessary for the continued success of this facility," internist Dr. John Lafata said.

Tri-City Medical Center treats about 92,000 patients a year.
