Police investigate suspicious death in Bay Ho

A 41-year-old man was found fatally injured in the backyard of a Bay Ho neighborhood home Sunday, and homicide detectives were working to determine if his death was accidental.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 41-year-old man was found fatally injured in the backyard of a Bay Ho neighborhood home Sunday, and homicide detectives were working to determine if his death was accidental.

Someone alerted police to the unresponsive man in the 4700 block of Monongahela Street near Luna Avenue around 10 a.m., San Diego police Lt. Mike Hastings said.

He had suffered blunt force trauma to his upper torso, and was declared dead at the scene following an unsuccessful medical intervention, Hastings said. His name was initially withheld by police.

Hastings said that it was unclear if the man's death was accidental, and homicide detectives were summoned to investigate "out of an abundance of caution." An autopsy will be conducted in the next few days, the lieutenant said.

Detectives were conducting follow-up interviews at the residence, and Hastings asked anyone with additional information to call police at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (8880 580-8477.
