SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – A surfer is dead after being found on the shore near Calumet Park in La Jolla Wednesday.
Lifeguards say 67-year-old Steven Fujii of Clairemont had just finished surfing and was on the rocks resting, when he had some type of medical emergency around 7 a.m. Two surfers saw him on the shore with his surfboard. A doctor tried to resuscitate him, before paramedics arrived. But Fujii fell unconscious and could not be revived.
He was reportedly well-known by other surfers in the area.
