SAN DIEGO (CNS) - An 8-year-old girl being held in the lap of a wheelchair-bound pedestrian suffered a skull fracture when the two were struck by a Cadillac that ran a red light Thursday in the Valencia Park section of San Diego.

The female in the wheelchair was holding the child and crossing in a crosswalk at a green light when they were struck about 5:50 p.m. in the 5400 block of Imperial Avenue, said San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.

The child fell and hit her head on the ground. She was taken to a hospital for treatment, he said.

The female who was holding her complained of pain to her knee, Heims said.

It was unclear if the 82-year-old woman driving the red Cadillac that hit the victims was cited or arrested.
