San Diego County gasoline price drops to lowest amount since February 2011

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Sunday to its lowest amount since Feb. 10, 2011, decreasing 1.6 cents to $3.421.

The average price has dropped 24 consecutive days and 50 of the past 51, decreasing 40.1 cents over that span, including 2 cents on both Friday and Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 11 cents less than one week ago, 29.9 cents lower than one month ago and 33 cents below what it was one year ago.

Plummeting wholesale gasoline prices "gives plenty of room for local gas prices to decrease further," according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
