Plans to dedicate stretch of I-15 to Tony Gwynn

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A stretch of Interstate 15 could soon be named after the late Tony Gwynn.

On Tuesday, the County Board of Supervisors is expected to approve allocating $7,500 to Caltrans to build two Tony Gwynn Memorial Freeway signs.

The freeway between Scripps Poway Parkway and the West Bernardo Drive and Pomerado Road exits would be dedicated to the Hall of Fame outfielder, who died of cancer earlier this year.

The plan must still be approved by state legislature.
