POWAY (CBS 8) - The Citizens for SWAT group held its annual golf invitational Thursday to benefit the San Diego Police Department.
The tournament was held at Maderas Golf Club in Poway. San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer was there along with Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman.
Simmerman says the funds raised during the event will buy things like trauma kits and robots with cameras that can be deployed in swat situations.
"The money raised here today will make sure that our SWAT officers have exactly the equipment and the training that they need to make sure when we get that call, we can have a successful outcome," she said.
According to the police chief, the event has raised $800,000 for the SWAT team over the last 10 years.
