"Operation Boo" checks up on sex offenders

OCEANSIDE (CBS 8) – State parole agents fanned out across San Diego County for the 21st Operation Boo on Halloween. The sweep targeted registered sex offenders who have been convicted of committing crimes against children from participating in trick-or-treat events in the state of California.

According to Megan's Law there are more than 82,000 registered sex offenders in the state and more than 9,000 supervised by the state. In San Diego County there are more than 3,000 registered sex offenders.

In this video report, CBS News 8's Abbie Alford rode along with parole agents and Oceanside police in the Inland GPS district which covers North, Southeast and East County and Imperial County.
