OCEANSIDE (CBS 8) - Republican gubernatorial candidate Neel Kashkari made a swing through Southern California Monday to stump for votes.
Kashkari appeared at a "get out the vote" rally in Oceanside Monday morning.
Despite facing a large deficit to incumbent Governor Jerry Brown, Kashkari says he hopes voters will buy his vision of California's future.
"I'm asking voters to vote for me because I want to rebuild the middle class in California," he said. "I want every kid in California to get a good education, I want to bring good jobs back to California and give everyone a fair chance to work hard."
Polls show Kashkari is trailing Brown by as many as 21 percentage points.
