Progressive gives vehicles to 2 local veterans

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Progressive Insurance marked Veterans Day by giving away refurbished vehicles to two San Diego military families.

The company partnered with the National Auto Body Council to completely restore the vehicles.

Alex Belton, who serves on the USS Ronald Reagan, received a 2012 Kia Soul. Lorraine Anderson was in the Navy in the 1980s. She now suffers from multiple sclerosis, and says the 2002 Ford Explorer she received will help her better cope with the disease.

"This is freedom. I can go where I need to go and not take all day," she said. To be able to get to my appointment sooner, get it over with and get back and I can rest. It's going to help my health."

Progressive gave away 117 vehicles at offices across the country Tuesday.
