CHULA VISTA (CBS 8) - Chula Vista police Friday are investigating a stabbing and deadly shooting.
It happened at an apartment complex at about 9:15 a.m. in the 300 block of Center Street. According to investigators, an off-duty SDPD officer shot his brother in self-defense after he was stabbed. The man who was shot has died.
The unidentified officer was listed in stable condition at a local hospital. According to police, the brothers lived at the apartment with their parents, who witnessed the incident.
Investigators say the officer's brother had a history of mental issues, and there was a fight between him and his mother shortly before he stabbed his brother and was shot.
