Surfing legend Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz dead at 93

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Surfing pioneer Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz has died.

Born in Texas, he convinced his family to move to Southern California as a teen. Here he signed on as a lifeguard in Mission Beach and started surfing in the 1930s.

Paskowitz and his family ran popular surf camps at San Onofre State Beach and Tourmaline Surfing Park in Pacific Beach.

"Doc" Paskowitz was 93 years old.
