Devin & Allie hope new beginning leads to new home

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - There's an urgent need to find a home for two siblings, who just moved back to California.

Devin and Allie are living in an emergency children's shelter and social workers are hoping their next move will be into a forever home.

When we first met this dynamic duo, big brother Devin was 10-years-old and his little sister Allie was seven-years-old. And with no other family to lean on, they knew they could always count on each other with Devin helping Allie with her homework every day. Allie said that he helps her find out things that she don't know, and she loves him until “the end of the world.”

Three years later, their study habits remain the same and despite being moved around in the foster care system, they are both excelling in school.

So what is their secret to getting good grades? They say it's because they listen in class and study.

Devin, who just turned 13, and Allie, who is now 10, are incredibly resilient.

“They've been let down, I think they really believed their last home was going to be a permanent placement, so this was kind of a sudden let down for them, so permanency soon would mean the world to them,” explained a social worker.

Devin and Allie had been living in the Midwest with a foster family until just a few weeks ago, when, through no fault of their own, they were sent back here to San Diego and placed in an emergency children's shelter. Right now, the siblings are understandably guarded.

But they do hold out hope this new beginning will bring them a new family.

Devin and Allie also need unconditional love, which they have never experienced, having a mom and dad in their life is something important to them.

These siblings are in their tweens and need parents to help nurture their talents.

Allie and Devin deserve a forever family to cheer them both on and guide them down a path to success.
