Encinitas Brownie troop donates to Make-a-Wish

ENCINITAS (CBS 8) - An Encinitas Brownie troop is spreading holiday cheer, donating a check to Make-a-Wish San Diego.

The Brownies donated $100 raised from their cookie proceeds. They presented it at a ceremony Friday.

Four-year-old Wish kid Benjamin, who is battling cancer, was also honored at the ceremony with signs the Brownies made. He recently had his wish granted, going to Disney World with his family. His father explained it was possible thanks to donations like Friday's.

"They are looking to help people more rather than themselves actually. They're selfless kids and they're trying to make a difference in the community for other families," father Joseph Williams said.

San Diego-based company Spinal Elements was also there Friday as a recipient of this year's Make-a-Wish Corporate Partner Award, donating almost $100,000 over the past two years.
